Website Redesign For Molecular Biophysics Department At FSU

Website Redesign For Molecular Biophysics Department At FSU

For my IT Project internship I worked on a team project for the Molecular Biophysics Department at Florida State University. Our team worked on redesigning their website over the course of the semester.

The client we worked with was interested in increasing the amount of students that apply to their graduate program. They had a website that was not very interesting for the students that would be applying. So we surveyed the current students to see what attracted them to the program, so we could highlight those things on the website.

We had many meetings with professors in the department to discuss things that we could to do improve their website. One of the things we did to attract students was to highlight some of the interesting technologies that they had in their lab by taking pictures of them and writing about what they are used for. We also thought it would be a good idea to get them a social media presence so we set up their Facebook and Twitter accounts and linked to them on their site.

We used WordPress to create the site. This made it very easy for the clients to update the sites news and other pages on their own without having to know HTML or CSS. Although we did not have time to completely finish their website during the semester, some students in our group are going to continue on it during the summer as an internship.

Below is the final project plan we created for this project, some screenshots of the website and the actual link to the website.
